This week, we celebrated Roald Dahl day, as it would have been his 100th birthday on Tuesday. We used the iPads to research interesting facts about his life and found out lots of new things about him. We also discussed our favourite Roald Dahl books and characters. We built on last week’s descriptive writing in English to describe some of these characters – we think there are lots of mini Roald Dahls in the making!
In Maths, we have been continuing to build on our number knowledge, thinking about how place value can help us with addition and subtraction. We have also started looking at our timestables; it would be great to hear you are practising these at home. We are also focusing on mental methods to improve our speed of recall.
Our very first topic of the year began with Science, learning about animals and humans. We had great fun sorting animals into groups, including vertebrates and invertebrates, using our Scientific enquiry skills. As it is Jeans 4 Genes day next week, we are going to learn about genes and how they can affect our bodies. This will lead our learning to investigating animal and human muscles. It has been great to see some Homelearning completed already based on this topic and we look forward to seeing more.
This week we also had our very first French lesson at Bushey Manor. We can say hello and goodbye and look forward to building on our vocabulary to put together in sentences.
Next week is Enterprise week and we have preparing to become entrepreneurs to raise as much money for Jeans 4 Genes as possible. We look forward to seeing you at our Enterprise sale and updating you on how we have contributed to such a good cause.
