Wow! What another fantastic week of learning we have had!
The week started with another interesting assembly led by Mrs Djora. Lola, the school dog from The Hyde School, came to visit and we were all very impressed with her tricks and also her extremely calm personality!
This week in English, we became Minpins! Using evidence from the text, we created character profiles about the tiny people. We thought carefully about what life would be like if we lived in a tree, in particular how we would travel from tree to tree, what we would wear and what jobs we might have. Following this activity, we created freeze-frames in the roles of Minpins. Towards the end of the week, we wrote character descriptions about the Minpins, remembering to use interesting adjectives, adverbial phrases and a variety of conjunctions to extend our sentences.
In Maths this week, we discussed the effectiveness and purpose of manipulatives, such as number lines, bead strings and hundreds squares. Throughout the week, we completed a variety of activities, including identifying patterns, continuing sequences and rounding numbers to the nearest multiple of 10. We will continue to focus on these areas over the next few weeks, ensuring that we are ready to apply our knowledge in other mathematical areas.
The week concluded with an amazing trip to the circus! We enjoyed acts, including Leo the Lion, Iris the Hula Hooper and the Black Eagles. Nina. the ring master, really impressed with her feet juggling skills as well.
We look forward to another super week next week!
