As some of you may have seen as you came round for a tour of the school this week, we have been retelling the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. We created actions and symbols to help us recall the story then use our drama skills to put on a performance. Moving on to group work, each group created a slightly different version of the story to perform. To help us remember our lines we created playscripts. We made sure we included detailed stage directions, so everyone knew what to do. Later on in the week, we thought about the same story but from a different perspective. We imagined we were now the Giant in the story, what would he have made of Jack stealing all of things?!
In Maths, we are still focusing on addition, now beginning to move from using resources and written methods, such as number lines, to working mentally. On Thursday, we had a Maths afternoon, with five stations to practise and apply some of the skills we have been working on, including: place value, addition with bead strings and mental addition. Look at our Photos This Week section to see this in action.
Next week, we will be going on a local walk to discover how Bushey has changed over time. Can you look around your local area and picture what this would have looked like in the past?
