This week has been an exciting week, because not only was World Book Day looming, but we also were waiting, (with baited breath), for our 'Performance Poetry' presentations!! What an absolutely fantastic way for B5 to commerate World Book Day, by celebrating their own writing skills and performing these in class! We were blown away, not only by the creativity of their writing, the humour in their rhymes, their comedy actions and rhythm, but by the professionalism of their performances. You never cease to amaze me B5 - I am so proud of you! Please ask your children about "Walking with my Iguana", it was their inspiration.
The rest of the week has seen some great investigative work of square and cube numbers - and I am looking forward to playing games and seeing how they can interpret the problems and challenges I have for them to unravel next week. The children really need to apply their times tables knowledge to support them with this work. Again concrete and pictorial resources have helped the children understand their work.
World Book Day, despite the freezing temperatures, was such a great day. Again, B5 went to town! From War Horse to a 'Galaxy' out of space, Harry Potter to Gangster Granny, Matilda to Mr Stink - to name just a few of the fabulous costumes we had. The children enjoyed the annual parade, the book quiz, sharing their love of reading with the younger children, as well as me and Miss Williams (aka Mad Hatter and The Scarecrow). We ended the day with designing a book token for next year's World Book Day and reading our class book 'Goodnight Mr Tom' - such a beautiful story. Thanks for another great week of learning B5 - I hope you all enjoyed the Snow Day!!
PICTURES TO COME - THEY ARE AT SCHOOL!! I WILL PUT THEM ON THIS MONDAY (5TH MARCH)
