This week, we have been continuing our learning about birds, in particular owls, linking to our class book, Skellig. Our aim is to complete a non-chronological report, as a class, about owls and then independently to write a report of our own choice. In order to be successful, we had to learn about the features and type of language included in non-fiction writing. At home, can you find and share some good examples of formal language used in non-fiction texts?
Here are some photos of our work so far, firstly we had to work out what a non-chronological report looked like, finding the features in existing texts and then we researched different categories of owl information to group into paragraphs. We will be turning these notes into paragraphs to create a class report.
