Welcome back after a well deserved two weeks holiday! It was time to put the mince pies and knuckle down to some outstanding work!
In English, we started our new topic based on the book 'Varmints' by Helen Ward and Marc Craste. We looked at the origin of the word varmint and started to create our own ideas of what we thought a varmint would look like. By the end of the week, we had started to read the book, watch the accompanying animation and plan our first diary entry from the point of view of a varmint. Next week, we will start to look at persuasive writing.
In Maths, we began to investigate 2D shapes by comparing and classifying them based on their properties and sizes. We also illustrated and named parts of circles and solved problems involving them.
Next week, we will investigate 3D shapes and their nets.
In the afternoons, we started our new topics in Art, Geography, Science, Spanish and Computing. In Art, we will be studying Pop Art and recreating our own pieces inspired by Roy Lichenstein and Andy Warhol. In Geography, we are studying the Americas. In Science, we have started our unit on living things, being with classification. In Spanish, we are learning about how to order food and drink in a café and computing we will be creating our own blogs that we update each week.
