What a brilliant first week back we have had in B6! We have all had such a positive start to the new term and are very eager to have a brilliant last term at Bushey Manor.
In English, we have been writing a narrative from the short animated film In Sickness. We focussed on creating suspense in our writing, as well as using adventurous vocabulary to engage our reader.
In Maths, we have been working on our statistics skills; in particular: finding the averages of a set of data and interpreting information given in graphs and tables.
We started our new History topic this week: The Vikings. We learnt where they came from and which historical period they followed-on from, as well as creating questions for our historical enquiry. This also linked to our Art work of identifying the features of different Viking art periods and then practising our sketching skills to replicate these patterns.
In PSHE, we focussed on relationships and had lots of discussions about the people who are important to us.
In RE, we learnt about the different Gods there are in each of the major religions and explored the question: What might God be like?
In Science, we started our learning this term by identifying how scientific ideas about food and diet were tested in the past and how this has contributed to our knowledge of a balanced diet. In particularly, we looked at the work of James Lind.
We have also all now been given usernames and passwords for Times Tables Rockstars. We have loved using this app to improve our times tables. We also used Bug Club to support out reading comprehension and will use this from next week for one of the weekly activities in our daily Guided Reading sessions.
