Once again we have had another jam-packed week in Year 3!
On Monday, we had a visitor from the Dogs Trust. Jemma worked with us to help us understand how dogs should be treated and helped us to see things from a dogs point of view.
We have continued with our English work on fables, using War and Peas as a stimulus. Next week, we will be planning and writing our own fables.
In Maths, we have been working on Fractions. We have identified the difference between unit and non-unit fractions and found fractions of quantities. We worked in pairs to make a Fraction Museum. Next week, we will be ordering and comparing fractions.
In History, we continued finding out about the Ancient Egyptians. We used pictures as sources of information to find out about daily life and the importance of the River Nile.
The highlight of our week was Friday, when we had our Ancient Egyptian Day. All the costumes were fantastic and it really helped he children to get into the atmosphere of the day. Our 2 visitors. Steve and Sally, were from a company called Portals from the Past. We found out about daily life; the importance of the River Nile; gods and goddesses, mummification and looked at some artefacts. We also had a go at Egyptian dancing, measuring in cubits and finally took part in a procession. What a busy day!
