Pantomime Peter pan!

On Monday we had a delightful time watching Peter Pan Panto 2019 here at Bushey Manor. The children were entertained and truly had a great time.

In Spanish this week, we have been learning about different types of animals such as mammals, we explored a range of  mammals in the animal kingdom and their characteristics. We also looked at a collection of birds and their properties. We further focused on reptiles and discovered different types of reptiles. Finally we identified different types of fishes, their habitats, diets, predators, fun-facts, and characteristics here.

Maths this week was a a great challenged that B5 were successful at.  Children identified, named and wrote equivalent fractions of a given fraction, represented visually, including tenths and hundredths. They recognised mixed numbers and improper fractions and convert from one form to the other and wrote mathematical statements > 1 as a mixed number  [ for example, 2/5 + 4/5 = 6/5 = 11/5]

In English, we have been studying the Christmas Truce. The Christmas Truce was a series of widespread unofficial ceasefires along the Western Front of World War I around Christmas 1914. We began the week exploring a variety of sources from this historic event, including letters and diary entries written by soldiers on the Western Front. After watching the Sainsbury's advert (2014), which was a recreation of the Christmas Truce, we enjoyed creating freeze-frames to represent the key moments from the truce. We  concluded the week identifying features of a letter in preparation for writing our own letters next week.

Check out some examples of sources from Christmas Truce 1914 on Week in Pictures, Autumn, Week 13: 6/12/2019
