This week in English, we began a new unit on Fables. We started the week exploring different versions of Aesop's Fables. We identified the main features of the text type and discussed the morals of the stories. At the end of the week, we were introduced to a book called 'War and Peas' by Michael Foreman. This modern classic will be the main stimulus throughout our unit and will hopefully teach us all a valuable lesson!
In Maths, we developed our understanding of bar charts and pictograms. We spent the week collecting, collating, presenting and interpreting data. The trickiest part of presenting our data as a pictogram was determining the value of the symbol. Next week, we are going to be applying our understanding of multiplication and division to solve worded problems.
Thank you to everyone who dressed up for World Book Day! You all looked fabulous and a lot of work had clearly been put into the creation of the outfits!
Don't forget to try and complete the Reading Challenge sheet (and return it on Thursday) and also, remember to visit a local, participating bookshop to exchange your World Book Day voucher for a FREE book!
