We are three weeks into the term and already so much fantastic learning has been taking place!
This week, saw us dive deeper into Arthur Spiderwick's Field Guide. We learnt about the fascinating Sprites and Pixies. In preparation for our final piece of the unit, we looked at writing interesting and engaging captions for pictures of pixies and wrote detailed descriptions of sprites. Our aim was to include a range of clause structures that would help to engage our readers. As well as working on our writing, we spent time perfecting our peer assessment and editing skills - focusing on positive feedback and small steps to improvement.
Next week, we will be developing our journalistic skills.
In Maths, we focused on negative numbers. We started the week by finding the differences between negative and positive numbers and by the end of the week we were solving complex problems involving them.
Next week, we will be looking at rounding and multiplying and dividing by powers of 10.
In the afternoons, we continued to develop our fantastical beast. We now have wings, a skeleton, a tongue and 100s of scales.
Next week, we will piece together our skeleton, create the head and decorate the body.
We also held our school council elections. I was blown away by the speeches and the effort the candidates put into writing them. Their speeches will be published on our class page. A huge congratulations to our class councilor - Evie and our deputy Abbz! I hope your time in office is enjoyable and successful!
