In Maths this week, the children have been learning to multiply and divide by 10 and 100. They have been looking at the effect it has on the place value of the digits and recording using decimal points. We have been working hard to ensure the children understand that it is the digits that move, not the decimal point. E.g, if we are multiplying, the digits move to the left on a place value grid whereas, if we divide, they move to the right. The children now have a good understanding of this, so ask them to show you!
In English, the children have used the video ‘Lighthouse’ to help them plan their own newspaper report. They have created quotes, using reporting clauses and considered what they will include in each paragraph. Next week, they will write and publish their newspaper reports.
In Science, they continued their learning around teeth and planned and set up an experiment to see the impact that various substances, such as cola, may have on our teeth. Next week, the children will look at the results of the experiment before moving onto learning about digestion.
