Week 3 - W/E 24th January

In our English lessons this week we have been concentrating on our non-chronological reports. We looked at a few examples and made a note of the features. We have each started using the iPads to carry out research on a dinosaur and are using our note-taking skills to record our information.

Next week, we will convert our notes into text and then publish our reports, using as many of the features as possible.

In Maths, we have been investigating multiplication and division. We have used arrays to work out the answers to calculations. We also worked on division by sharing and division by grouping. It was a bit confusing at times but we persevered and have made good progress. 

Next week we will be continuing to develop our multiplication and division skills.

This week, we continued work on our new PSHE scheme: Jigsaw. We begin each session with Circle Time, do breathing exercises and clear our minds. It helps us to feel calm and relaxed. In the session we were sharing ideas about what a nightmare school would be like and all agreed that we were glad Bushey Manor isn't a nightmare school!

We completed our Forces and Magnets tips in Science this week. We investigated the strength of different types of magnet and found out how the ends of a bar magnet, the poles, can attract or repel. We were given the challenge of trying to make a paper clip 'hover' above the table, using a piece of thread, tape and a magnet. We also made our own directional compass, the instructions for which can be found below.

Next week we will be starting a new Science topic all about Rocks.
