The weeks are flying by in Year 6! We've had another brilliant week filled with newspaper reports, rounding numbers, multiplying by powers of ten, D & T, Online Safety and coding.
In English, we turned our attentions to the passive voice and journalistic writing. Our stimulus was the mighty sea serpent from Arthur Spiderwick's Field Guide. Measuring over 150m, these are formidable creatures and one had washed up on the English coast, prompting us to put pen to paper. Each child produce their own article, detailing the event and featuring interviews from key witnesses. Based on our work this week, I wouldn't be surprised if we have the future editor of The Times or Telegraph in our midst.
Next week, we will continue to study water based creatures and write reports for an encyclopedia.
On Wednesday afternoon, we had a very informative Online Safety talk. We revised how to keep ourselves safe online and the steps to follow if we are concerned or worried about anything we see, receive or hear online. Following the talk, we designed posters that would help keep others safe.
Next week, we have another action packed week and we are looking forward to welcoming our parents to our first 'Stay and Learn' event of the year on Thursday!
