In English this week, we have continued our work on persuasive writing. At the start of the week, we discussed the purpose and content of a variety of letters. We then identified the features of formal and informal letters and thought about the main reasons for writing a letter. Towards the end of the week, we began planning our own persuasive letter linked to our rainforest topic. We will be writing our letters next week.
In Maths, we have been developing our understanding of division. We used dienes and the 'bubble method' (the children can explain more about this!) to halve 2 and 3-digit numbers. Later in the week, we completed calculations that produced remainders and demonstrated our understanding using regrouping. We will be continuing with this next week.
This week in D.T., we continued creating our pneumatic system models. Thank you to all the parents who helped us with the construction process. We hope to have these finished next week so that they can head home for half term!
Our swimming sessions at Bushey Grove are going 'swimming-ly well'! We are learning and practising a variety of strokes and displaying fantastic water skills, such as 'treading water' and 'starfish floating'!
