Week 6

This week in Maths, the children have continued their learning of decimals. They learnt to order, calculate with decimal numbers and finding compliments to 1. Using resources such as bead strings and base 10 has really helped the children to understand tenths and hundredths.

In English, the children listened to a new story called, 'The Promise'. They made inferences about the main character before writing a diary entry in that role. To finish the unit the children planned and wrote the next chapter, considering the theme and actions of the characters.

In Guided Reading, we came to the (very emotional) end of Kensuke's Kingdom. This was a fantastic book for the children to read with such rich vocabulary. It is great to see the children beginning to use this in their writing.

In PE, the children have learnt about agility. They took part in different activities at 3 stations that involved moving in different directions.

I hope you all have a lovely half term break.

Take care.

Term starts for children on September 4th - happy holidays!
