Week 6

The end of a very busy half term and thank you to those parents who were able to join us for our extra At Home session in which we looked at comprehension in reading.  It is really great to have parents come in, where possible, and see some of the learning that we do in B4.

In English we have completed our writing inspired by the beautiful picture book Leon and the Place Between.  In this unit we have written persuasive writing, free form poetry and written a narrative based on the text.  I have been really impressed by the children’s expanding vocabulary choices and their thinking about the reader.

In Maths, we have continued to learn about decimals and looked and both written and mental ways to add and subtract decimals.  We have then started to learn about money and how it relates to decimals.  Any opportunities that you can give the children to let them practise playing with money or counting money or working out how much coins come to will benefit them hugely.

In History, the children made Tudor Jumbles.  They did a brilliant job of following the recipe and taking turns and do different jobs.  The finished outcomes were great!

In PSHE we have learned about action and consequences and rewards.  We have thought about how choices that we Markle impact us and other people.  The children are doing a great job of exploring these themes in a calm and sensible way.

I hope everyone has a great half term break and I look forward to welcoming you back in a week.
